News and Notes

5/1/2022:  The RPBL Rangers (3-1) completely dominated the B-division Carrol Manor Cardinals (4-3) in the game they played Saturday.  Ranger's pitchers Henry and John produced a combined no-hitter, allowing only a single baserunner in the 3-inning affair.  The hits came early and often for the Rangers, who earned the 15-run mercy rule win before the Cardinals recorded an out in the bottom of the 3rd.  Noah led the way for the impressive Rangers offense, going 2 for 2 with 2 HR.  In a disappointing twist to the day, however, the Cardinals and their coach Travis Pendergast reported a forfeit victory over the Rangers after an unsportsmanlike dispute regarding the games' start time.  This leaves the Rangers in second place in the A division.  The Rangers have a mid-week make-up game at Memorial this Wednesday against Maryland Baseball Club (1-1).

4/24/2022:  The RPBL Rangers (2-0) finally got their regular season underway Saturday after twice being rained out.  They got off to a quick start too, picking up 2 wins against the Emmorton Eagles (1-4).  The first game was a 9-3 decision which showcased an outstanding performance by Issac on the hill.  In 5 innings, he allowed just one earned run while striking out 6 and giving up just 1 walk.  Balls were flying off the bats for the Rangers too, with Henry, Nathaniel, and Thomas all recording doubles, and Jack sending one out of the park.  Game two was a back-and-forth affair, with the Rangers mounting a 5-run 5th to come back from a 7-6 deficit to take the lead and hold on for the W.  After QT drove in the game-tying run with his 4th hit of the day, Jack drilled a 2-out double to score him and take the lead.  Noah then gave the Rangers some insurance when he hit his first homer of the season, driving a ball over the right-field fence.  The wins moved the Rangers into 2nd place in the standings, 2 games back of the red-hot Fallston Cougars (6-0) in the 12U-A division.  The boys will be looking to gain some ground on them next week when they visit the Carrol Manor Cardinals (3-1) of the 12U-B for a 12PM/2PM double header.  Go Rangers!

4/3/2022:  The RPBL Rangers kicked off the season with a solid showing at the UCBF Spring Classic, finishing with a 2-1 record.  That was good enough for them to finish 2nd in their pool and 5th overall.  The team failed to advance to the single-elimination bracket with the HCYP Raiders (2-1) taking the single wild-card seed by tiebreak.  The Rangers' only loss was to the tournament's eventual winner, Mid Atlantic Show (5-0).  The Rangers did make a solid case that they are a team to beat in the upcoming HCTB regular season by defeating both league rivals they faced, the Fallston Cougars and the MD Baseball Club.  The boys will be spending the week preparing for Saturday's home opener at Memorial Field, when they will host the MD Baseball Club for a double header beginning at 10 AM.
